Haxton Scholarship Details
The Haxton Scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate who has participated in Delaware Shore Field Hockey conducted events. Applicants must plan to attend a four-year course of study in a college or university or a medical training program.
Eligibility:
Applicants:
- Must have graduated high school
- Should be a keen field hockey player and have participated in events organized by DFSH
- Must have been accepted into a program as described above
Application requirements:
The scholarship application must include an essay that contains the following details:
- Name and contact details (address, email id) of the applicant
- Details of the applicant’s participation in the events organized by DSFH
- Details of the applicant’s participation and achievements in field hockey in high school and elsewhere
- What effect playing field hockey has had on her life
- How playing field hockey will influence her life and career
- How she plans to continue her interest in field hockey
- The unmet financial need for attending college
About Delaware Shore Field Hockey, Inc.
DSFH is affiliated with USA Field Hockey. They train players in the skills required to play field hockey at the highest level. They focus on the personal growth and development of every athlete. Highly skilled athletes hone their talents by competing with each other. DSFH strives to instill in athletes the values of sportsmanship, respect for the rules of the game, self-discipline, loyalty, and a competitive spirit.
The DFSH conducts the Haxton and Easter Seals Tournament every December at the Cape Henlopen High School. The proceeds from the tournament partially fund the scholarship.
Amanda Haxton
The Haxton Scholarship honors the memory of Amanda “Hax” Haxton. Amanda was a member of the DSFH family. She first played with Delaware Shore in 2001. She attended Cape Henlopen High School, where she also played field hockey. Amanda’s many friends remember her for her warmth, charisma, and good cheer.
